Acceptable Use Policy
What you can and cannot create with SteadyEdit, how we moderate content, and how to report it.
Last updated: 2026-10-16
SteadyEdit ("Platform", "we", "us"), an independent product operated by an individual developer, is committed to safe, lawful and responsible AI image editing. This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") applies to everything you upload, write or create on SteadyEdit. It sets out our content standards, how we moderate, how to report content and what we do when the rules are broken. It is part of our Terms of Service.
1. Scope
This Policy applies to:
- Images: photos and reference images you upload, and every image edited or generated by the Platform.
- Prompts: the instructions you write for an edit.
- Reports and other messages you send us.
2. Content standards and prohibited categories
You may not use SteadyEdit to create, edit towards, or request any of the following six categories of content:
- Pornography and NSFW content, including nudity, sexual acts and "undressing" or see-through edits of anyone.
- Violence and gore, including graphic injury, mutilation and dead bodies.
- Hate speech, including hateful symbols, slurs and content attacking people for protected characteristics.
- Child-unsafe content, including any sexual or suggestive content involving minors.
- Deepfakes and impersonation of real people, including face swaps, putting a real person's face on someone else, placing celebrities or politicians in images, or editing a real person into a situation that did not happen in order to deceive or humiliate.
- Content infringing copyright or trademarks, including removing watermarks, copying characters, brands or logos you do not own, and creating counterfeit products.
2.1 Zero tolerance
The following are removed immediately, lead to a permanent ban and may be reported to the authorities:
- Child sexual abuse material or any sexual content involving minors.
- Non-consensual sexual or intimate imagery of real people.
- Content that promotes or facilitates terrorism, extremism or mass violence.
- Content inciting genocide or ethnic hatred.
2.2 Other prohibited conduct
- Creating misinformation, such as fake news photos or fake evidence.
- Impersonating real people, brands or organizations.
- Passing AI-edited images off as unedited photographs where that could mislead or cause harm.
- Bulk-generating spam or deceptive commercial content.
- Writing prompts designed to get around our safety measures.
- Uploading images you do not have the right to use.
3. How we moderate
Every edit goes through automated checks before and after it runs, and flagged items are reviewed by a person.
3.1 Automated review (real time)
- Prompt screening: each prompt is checked against our blocklist of prohibited terms, which we update continuously, and then by the Waffo Pancake prompt safety scanner (Prompt Sift), which detects unsafe intent. Prompts that are not cleared are rejected before any edit runs, and no credits are charged.
- Upload screening: every uploaded image is checked by an image safety classifier (the fal.ai NSFW detector) before it is stored. Rejected images are not kept.
- Output screening: every result is checked by the same classifier before you can see it. Results that fail are never shown to you and are not saved to our storage. We keep a moderation record of the decision (see 3.2).
- Usage monitoring: daily upload limits and a limit on simultaneous edits per visitor session help us spot abuse.
3.2 Human review
Content flagged by the automated checks and every user report enter a review queue. The operator of SteadyEdit reviews them, records a decision on each one, and adjusts the blocklist when new abuse patterns appear.
What we keep for review: for every check, a moderation record with the prompt text, the decision, the flagged category and the score (kept up to 12 months). Images are kept only as described in our Privacy Policy: your uploads and visible results for 72 hours, then deleted. Blocked results are not stored, so their review relies on the moderation record, the prompt and the source image.
3.3 Severity levels
| Level | Examples | How it is handled | Action |
|---|---|---|---|
| L1 Critical | Child safety, terrorism | Blocked automatically and confirmed by a person | Immediate permanent ban, report to authorities |
| L2 High | Sexual content, deepfakes of real people, graphic violence | Blocked automatically, priority review | Content removed, account suspended |
| L3 Medium | Hate symbols, copyright or trademark misuse | Blocked or reviewed | Warning and content removal |
| L4 Low | Borderline or unclear requests | Reviewed when reported | Warning |
4. Reporting
Report any image or behavior you believe breaks this Policy, especially anything involving child safety, or any image that impersonates you or infringes your rights. Reports are confidential: we do not reveal who reported. Knowingly false reports are themselves a breach of this Policy.
5. How to report
- In the editor: click Report under any result.
- By email: support@steadyedit.app, with "Content report" in the subject. Include a link or description of the content and why it breaks this Policy.
6. Response times
| Level | First response | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| L1 Critical | Within 24 hours | Within 48 hours |
| L2 High | Within 2 business days | Within 5 business days |
| L3 Medium | Within 5 business days | Within 10 business days |
| L4 Low | Within 10 business days | Within 15 business days |
Every report goes through the same steps: received, classified by level, reviewed, decided, enforced, and the reporter told the outcome where possible. If a case takes longer, we will let the reporter know why.
7. Enforcement
| Action | What happens | When |
|---|---|---|
| Warning | Written notice by email | First minor violation |
| Content removal | The image is removed from the visitor session and edit history | Confirmed violations |
| Session suspension | The session can no longer upload images or run edits | L2 violations or repeated violations |
| Permanent ban | Access is terminated permanently, without refund | L1 violations or repeated L2 violations |
| Report to authorities | We cooperate with law enforcement | Criminal content such as child sexual abuse material |
Credits spent on results blocked by moderation are not refunded.
8. Appeals
If you think we made a wrong decision, email support@steadyedit.app with "Appeal" in the subject within 30 days of the decision. We re-examine the decision from scratch, using the moderation record and any related images we still hold (see 3.2), and reply within 10 business days. Decisions about L1 content are final.
9. Changes to this Policy
We update this Policy and our blocklist as new risks appear. Material changes are announced on this page at least 15 days before they take effect. Continued use of SteadyEdit after that means you accept the updated Policy.
